Donald Blake/Thor Odinson

The Marvel version of Thor may be slightly different than the one you may know from Norse mythology. Thor is from Asgard and is the son of Odin, the ruler of Asgard, and Gaea, goddess of the Earth. Thor was favored over his adopted brother, Loki, the god of mischief. On Thor's eighth birthday he was give the chance to receive a one of a kind hammer with magic capabilities called Mjölnir. The only way Thor could receive Mjölnir was if he proved himself a worthy warrior to his father and this finally happened after eight years of training.

After receiving the hammer and fighting many wars, Thor was deemed the greatest warrior in all of Asgard. Time kept going, Thor kept winning battles, all was good until he let this power go to his head and almost started a war between the Frost Giants. Odin then took away Mjölnir and sent Thor down to Earth as Donald Blake with no memory of ever being an Asgardian. Blake lived out his life as a normal person would. He became a pediatric doctor after graduating medical school and opened a clinic with a nurse named Jane Foster, who he eventually falls in love with.

Odin ended up giving Thor his memories and power back after a trip to Iceland when he was needed to help in a war on Earth. Blake wondered into a cave to take cover where he found a stick and after beating it on the ground, it turned to Mjölnir and Blake was turned back into Thor. He fought in the war and slowly all his memories were returned.

James Howlett/Wolverine

James Howlett is the son of John and Elizabeth Howlett. The family was very wealthy and lived on a large estate with many groundskeepers and servants. James was neglected by his mother because of his older brother's death and Elizabeth was very close to losing her mind. Though as time went on, James made friends with two of the other children living on the estate named Rose and the other nicknamed "Dog". Dog was very abused by his father, Thomas Logan, and had a very twisted view on reality and what is okay.

The three friends happily grew up together on the estate until Dog forced himself upon Rose. James went to his father about this and got Dog and his father fired. Having their twisted thoughts about reality the men came back one night and tried to kidnap Elizabeth, claiming Thomas and her were once lovers. John tried to stop them but was killed by Thomas as James walked into the room. This was the first time James had his mutation. He had razor sharp claws extend from the back of his hands. James killed Thomas and scarred Dog and Elizabeth killed herself after witnessing it all.

James and Rose fled to British Columbia after being tracked by Dog and James started going by the name "Logan". Logan became a miner and was adored by all the people in the small town because of his hard work and determination. He would grow in strength and eventually be able to run and hunt with the wolves in the woods surrounding the mining colony. But Dog never stopped searching for them. Dog eventually confronted them and fought James. Dog would have died that night but as Logan was delivering the last blow with his claws, Rose jumped between them. After her death Logan isolated himself from all human life and lived with wolves for many, many years. Eventually he would regain human interactions and join the X-Men.

Matthew Murdock/Daredevil

Matthew Murdock was raised by his father “Battling Jack” a professional boxer. He went to school to study law but before getting his Juris Doctorate degree, Matthew went blind. This happened when Matthew was saving a man from an oncoming truck carrying radioactive waste, which spilt onto Murdock. This did make Matthew go blind but it also enhanced all his other remaining senses to an incredible amount. As time went on, Matthew stayed in school until his father died after refusing to throw a fight. After the men who killed “Battling Jack” got away with no charge, Matthew took justice into his own hands.

Matthew used his father’s old boxing robe to make himself a costume and went under the name of “Daredevil” to bring his father justice. Daredevil went to each man involved in the murder of his father and brutally beat him to death. Although, the leader of the group, the Fixer, was frightened to death. As time goes on Daredevil continues to fight injustice that the law can not avoid. Daredevil has fought many super-criminals and has joined forces with many superheroes. Matthew does not agree with everyone’s ways and will turn on other heroes to follow the law as close as he can.

Max Eisenhardt/Magneto

Max Eisenhardt was sent to Auschwitz, a concentration camp, at a young age. He watched as his family were tortured and killed by the Nazis. However, as if that was not torture enough he was a member of Sonderkommando, which is a group of Jewish men who are forced to manage the gas chambers, fire pits, and ovens on the campgrounds by their Nazi owners. Max met his wife future wife, Magda, while in Auschwitz. After the Holocaust, they were married and had a daughter named Anya. They lived a peaceful, happy life for a little while.

Now, I must tell you Max is not a normal person, he was born with his powers to control any magnetic metal in or on the earth. Everyday people call others who are born with powers of any sort mutants and the general population usually hates them.  The first time Max knowingly used his power were when his home caught fire. He tried to save his family from the burning house and saved everyone but Anya. This caused the neighbors to turn against Max and go after him. Max went after the humans and killed them all. Magda then left him, leaving Max with no wife or daughter.

After having such an awful time with humans, Max decides he wants to separate all mutants from the humans by either creating a world for just mutants or ruling over them. He creates a name for himself, Magneto, in which he goes around causing chaos with the rest of the Brotherhood of Mutants.

Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Peter Parker is an orphaned high school student who lives with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Parker is just short from being a genius especially when it comes to science. When he his fifteen, Parker went to a public science exhibit with his school and was bit by a radioactive spider on the hand. The spider’s bite gave him extremely fast reflexes, strength, and other spider-like qualities. The most impressive of these abilities are clinging to almost anything, from any angle and a special sixth sense. This sixth sense allows Parker to know when danger or crimes are about to be committed around him.

Parker tested his powers against a professional wrestler with the name Crusher Hogan, who he pretty easily beat. Even though Peter knew how amazing and life changing his powers were, he decided he didn’t want to be a hero but that did change eventually. After walking home from school one day and having a burglar run past, which he could have easily stopped, he saw his Uncle Ben shot and dead on the floor of their apartment. He realized that if he had stopped that burglar, his uncle would still be alive. Peter then swore to fight every criminal and every evil person he came across to avenge Uncle Ben’s death.

Carl Lucas/Luke Cage

Carl Lucas is a former member of the gang the Bloods but after seeing that he was hurting those around him and that there are better ways to live, je left. Lucas did keep ties with a member of the Bloods named Willis Stryker, who ended up stabbing him in the back. After Stryker’s girlfriend broke up with him, he blamed Lucas. Stryker broke into Lucas’ home and planted stolen heroine and then tipped off the police. Lucas was then arrested, lost contact with his family, and became very bitter getting into many fights with the other prisoners and attempting many escapes. This behavior ended up getting him transferred to another prison off the coast of Georgia. This is where Lucas met Dr. Noah Burstein.

Burstein is an experimental scientist who was looking for someone to try out experimental cell regeneration. Lucas volunteered to be his guinea pig. All was going well until Burstein left for a minute and Rackham (a prison guard who hated Lucas) tried to kill Lucas by taking the experiment father than intended. Though, this did not kill Lucas but gave him super human strength and durability. Using his new powers, Lucas escaped from prison and changed his name to Luke Cage. Cage became a “hero for hire”, moved to New York, opened a medical clinic and battled criminals. Even though Cage’s original plans for adulthood didn’t involve being betrayed by a best friend it led to his powers and ability to save others life.

Bruce Banner/ The Hulk

Dr. R. Bruce Banner is an extremely intelligent nuclear physicist born in Dayton, Ohio. Though he had a very successful life up to the incident, Bruce was brutally abused by his alcoholic father, Dr. Brain Banner. Bruce’s father ended up killing his mother after she tried to stop the abuse. Then Dr. Brain was put into a mental hospital. Bruce then developed a split personality in order to deal with the abuse he continued to receive in school. At one point in his career, Bruce was supervising the test of an experimental gamma bomb for U.S. Defense Department. When a student, wondered dangerously close to the bomb, Bruce ran towards him and pushed him into a ditch to save his life. Bruce, however, was hit with the gamma energy and that is how the Hulk was created.

Though the Hulk is usually shown as green, there is a gray version of the same giant. Gray Hulk only happens at sunset and is reversed at dawn. Green hulk, on the other hand, can be triggered at any time. If Bruce becomes too excited or angry, he will transform into an uncontrollable monster. As time went on he did learn that the transformation into either Hulk could be controlled a little bit more by radiation. Also, through practice Banner was able to keep part of his human self so he can control green Hulk.
